Wine tasting in moderationA few words about wine tasting

For a successful wine tasting it is necessary to follow certain steps of a precise, specific technique for the examination of the look, the aromas and flavour characteristics of the wine, so the entire process is based on three main points: the visual, olfactory and taste test.

After following these points and any evaluations made during them, a general feeling left by the product tested is created which is the general impression on the overall picture of wine and - among other thoughts - on whether it is typical of the particular variety and the region it comes from, on assessing its maturing potential etc.

Anglo-Saxons wine lovers, playing  with words starting with the letter “S”, refer to this process as "The six S's": Setup, Seeing, Swirling, Sniffing, Slurping, Spitting, which mean respectively: preparation of the tasting room, observation, shaking, smelling, twirling in the mouth (mouthfeel) and spitting wine.
