Greece, the southernmost edge of Europe

Greece is a country located in southeastern Europe on the southern end of the Balkan Peninsula, Eastern Mediterranean. Capital and largest city of Greece is Athens.

It is bordered by Albania, Bulgaria, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) and Turkey. It borders on the east by the Aegean Sea, to the west by the Ionian and south of the Mediterranean Sea.

Greece is one of the countries with the longest coastline at 13,676 km, and has several islands including Crete (this is our island!), the Dodecanese, the Cyclades, the Ionian Islands and many others.

It has a long and rich history which brought great cultural influence in the three neighboring continents. Here was born the Republic and Philosophy. Finally, Greece is the birthplace of the Olympic Games, drama, tragedy and comedy.
